Robin’s Nest Playschool recognizes that families may occasionally face unexpected situations that disrupt their normal childcare arrangements. To help support working parents and guardians during these times, we offer Emergency Backup Care services when space is available. Emergency Backup Care provides temporary childcare for children who need care on short notice due to unforeseen circumstances. Our goal is to provide families with a dependable, safe, and nurturing environment where children can continue to learn, play, and receive quality care while parents manage unexpected challenges. Emergency Backup Care is intended to reduce stress for families by providing a trusted childcare solution when regular care arrangements are unavailable.

Emergency Backup Care may be utilized in situations including, but not limited to:

• A nanny, babysitter, or regular caregiver becomes ill or is unavailable.
• A grandparent or family member who normally provides care is unable to do so.
• School is unexpectedly closed due to weather, emergencies, or other circumstances.
• Parents or guardians are called into work unexpectedly.
• A child requires care outside of their normal childcare schedule.
• Family emergencies or unexpected appointments arise.
• Temporary gaps occur between childcare arrangements.
• School holidays or teacher workdays create a need for additional care.

When available, Robin’s Nest Playschool may offer same-day or next-day Emergency Backup Care for enrolled families and, when space permits, for new families who complete the required enrollment documentation. Placement is based on classroom capacity, staffing availability, and state-required child-to-teacher ratios. All children receiving Emergency Backup Care must meet the center’s enrollment, health, immunization, and emergency contact requirements. Families are encouraged to contact the center as early as possible when backup care is needed so that we can make every effort to accommodate their request.

Our Emergency Backup Care program is designed to provide peace of mind for families while maintaining the high standards of care expected at Robin’s Nest Playschool. Children participating in backup care will be included in age-appropriate classroom activities, meals and snacks (when applicable), outdoor play, rest periods, and educational experiences alongside their peers. While availability cannot be guaranteed, Robin’s Nest Playschool is committed to supporting families by offering flexible childcare solutions whenever possible during unexpected situations and emergencies.
