Curriculum
Learning Tools We Use
Learning Through Play, Discovery, and Exploration
At Robin’s Nest Playschool, we believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Our curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning by supporting the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of every child. Through hands-on activities, guided instruction, and purposeful play, children develop the skills they need to become successful learners both in school and in life.
Our program follows developmentally appropriate practices that recognize each child as a unique individual with their own interests, abilities, and learning style. Teachers create engaging learning experiences that encourage children to explore, ask questions, solve problems, and build positive relationships with their peers and adults.
Areas of Learning
Our curriculum incorporates a variety of learning experiences designed to support whole-child development, including:
Language & Literacy
Children are introduced to books, storytelling, letter recognition, vocabulary development, listening skills, and early writing experiences that foster a love of reading and communication.
Mathematics
Through hands-on activities, children learn foundational math concepts such as counting, number recognition, patterns, sorting, measurement, and problem-solving.
Creative Arts
Art, music, movement, dramatic play, and creative expression provide opportunities for children to explore their imagination while developing fine motor skills and self-confidence.
Physical Development
Indoor and outdoor activities help children strengthen gross and fine motor skills, coordination, balance, and healthy habits through active play and movement.
School Readiness
Preparing children for future academic success is an important part of our curriculum. We focus on building the foundational skills necessary for kindergarten and beyond by encouraging independence, problem-solving, communication, and a positive attitude toward learning. Children participate in structured and unstructured activities that promote both academic growth and social development.
Individualized Learning
At Robin’s Nest Playschool, we understand that every child develops at their own pace. Our teachers observe, assess, and adapt learning experiences to meet each child’s individual needs and developmental milestones. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we help every child reach their fullest potential.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Learning extends beyond traditional classroom activities. Children participate in special events, themed learning experiences, outdoor exploration, cultural celebrations, and community activities that enrich their educational journey and help them connect classroom learning to the world around them.
At Robin’s Nest Playschool, our curriculum is more than preparing children for school—it is about inspiring a lifelong love of learning, fostering confidence, and helping children develop the skills they need to thrive.
The Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS) provide a research-based framework that outlines what young children from birth to age five should know and be able to do. Designed to support high-quality early learning experiences, GELDS focuses on five key developmental domains: Physical Development and Motor Skills, Social and Emotional Development, Approaches to Play and Learning, Communication, Language and Literacy, and Cognitive Development and General Knowledge. These domains work together to support the whole child, guiding educators and caregivers in creating age-appropriate, engaging, and supportive learning environments that build a strong foundation for school readiness and lifelong success.
